1. About these terms
This website is run by Dunia Endelevu, a youth-led social enterprise based in Nairobi, Kenya. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy also apply.
2. Who the website is for
The website is for parents, guardians, teachers, partners and anyone interested in our work. Children are welcome to read it with an adult, but forms on this website must be completed by an adult. Programme applications must come from a child’s parent or legal guardian.
3. Using the website
Please use the website lawfully and kindly. You must not:
- send false, offensive or harmful information through our forms
- apply for a child you are not the parent or legal guardian of
- try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the website
- copy or collect personal information about children or anyone else from the site
- pretend to be Dunia Endelevu, or suggest we endorse you when we don’t
4. Programme applications
Our programme is free and open to children under 18. Sending an application does not guarantee a place. Places depend on partner schools, the number of mentors available and our safeguarding checks. A child takes part only after their parent or guardian has signed our consent form. We may pause or end a child’s participation if that is needed to keep them or others safe, and we will always explain why to the parent or guardian.
5. Children’s work and copyright
Young authors and speakers own the copyright in the stories, illustrations, recordings and speeches they create with us.
With written consent from the parent or guardian, the child grants Dunia Endelevu a non-exclusive licence to edit, publish, broadcast and sell that work, for example in a book, the annual Climate Anthology or a podcast episode. Children are credited by first name and age. Money raised from selling children’s work goes back into the free programme. A parent or guardian can withdraw the licence for future uses at any time, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
6. Our name, logo and content
The Dunia Endelevu name, logo, website design and text belong to Dunia Endelevu. You may share links to our pages and quote short passages with credit. Please ask us before using our name or logo, for example on event materials or partner announcements.
7. Donations, partnerships and orders
Podcast sponsorships, youth speaker bookings, anthology orders and other partnerships are confirmed in a separate written agreement or invoice. If that agreement and these terms disagree, the agreement applies. Amounts shown on the website, such as about KSh 50,000 to fund one book, are guides until we confirm them in writing. Youth speakers always attend with a parent, guardian or approved chaperone, and we may withdraw a speaker if an event is not suitable for children.
A donation pledge sent through this website is not a payment. We reply by email with how to pay, and we use each gift for the purpose you chose wherever we can.
8. Gifts and funding
Money given to support a child or a project is used for that purpose, or for the wider programme if you agree. If a funded project cannot go ahead, we will contact you to agree how the funds are used instead.
9. Links to other websites
The website links to services we don’t control, such as Spotify for our podcast. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
10. Our responsibility to you
We work to keep the website accurate and available, but we can’t promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses that arise from using the website. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that cannot be limited under the laws of Kenya.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya deal with any dispute. We would always rather talk first, so please contact us if something goes wrong.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
