About us

A sustainable world, led by the children who will live in it.

Dunia Endelevu is a youth-led climate incubator in Kenya. We help children write, speak and lead on climate, for free.

Vision and mission

Our vision

A sustainable world, led by the children who will live in it.

Our mission

To give children in Kenya the skills, the stage and the support to write, speak and lead on climate, free for every family.

How it started

It started with one young voice.

Dunia Endelevu was founded by Alana Chelangat, a young climate advocate from Kenya. On stages from Dubai to Baku, she saw how much changes when leaders hear directly from children. Most children never get that chance, so Dunia Endelevu gives it to them: the training, the microphone and the audience.

“Children aren’t just victims of climate change. We’re problem solvers.”

Our name

Dunia Endelevu means “a sustainable world”.

Dunia is Kiswahili for “the world”. Endelevu means “sustainable, lasting”.

Climate change will shape today’s children’s lives more than anyone’s, yet they are rarely asked what they think. Children under 18 join one of three free tracks: they publish their own climate book, co-host our podcast Climate Gumzo, or speak at real events. Trained adults coach them, keep them safe and raise the money, so families never pay.

Our values

What guides us.

Child-led

Children choose the stories, the questions and the speeches.

Safe, always

Vetted adults, written consent, first names only.

Free for every family

Donors and sponsors cover every cost.

Hope through action

Every story ends with something a child can do.

Safety

Safe, always.

Every child in our programmes is under 18. Their safety comes first, every time.

To raise a concern, email hello@duniaendelevu.org with “Safeguarding” in the subject line. Our safeguarding lead reads every message.

Who can join the programmes?

Children under 18, with written consent from a parent or legal guardian. Adults can’t join the programmes, but they can volunteer or donate.

How do you keep children safe?

Every adult is vetted before working with children. There are always at least two adults at a session, so a child is never alone with one adult. A parent, guardian or approved chaperone goes with every child to events.

Will my child’s name or photo be published?

Only with your written permission, given separately for each use. We credit children by first name and age only, and never publish contact details.

Who checks the volunteers?

We do. Volunteers must be 18 or over, are vetted before they start and follow our safeguarding policy. They never work one-to-one with a child.

Can I withdraw my child?

Yes, at any time. Email us and we stop. We also remove your child’s work from our website and from future editions.

How is my child’s information protected?

We follow Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, and only the people who need it can see it. Read our Privacy Policy.
